Biss/Woodman continued their domination of the LCAMC Road Rally championship, posting their 5th straight win this year. Fellow CSMA crew Chris Pratt/Nick Ardern came closest, but with thrice the penalties of Biss/Woodman they were somewhat out of touch. Martin Smith, in a scratch pairing with Ray Deacon, secured the Semi-Experts' award, Martin is rapidly approaching expert status in both driving and navigating now.

With the much heralded return to Romney Marsh the 1998 Powerush was much more like the Powerushes of old.

Starting from the new services a Maidstone the route took rather a long link section down onto the Marsh, from here it was down to business with back to back 2 mile sections taking in the lanes, dykes and level crossings! With a few pre-plot (well, with the handouts given a few controls in advance) sections and the usual navigation there was plenty for the navigators to do.

In these non-Targa days the Marsh is no longer as difficult as it was, and back at petrol there were six crews without penalty. The second half was to see all of these crews penalised, some more than others!

The second half took in the North Downs roads. These proved much more taxing than the Marsh, with the myriad of junctions and bends causing the downfall of many.
